Description

This is the story of two houses—the first Spadina built by William Warren Baldwin in 1818 and the grand home of James Austin that replaced it in 1866 and still stands today as a museum. Perhaps more importantly, it is the story of the Baldwins and the Austins and the many allied families who were very influential in politics and business in early Toronto and Ontario. The author’s perspective as a descendant of the Austin family allows him to tell a much broader yet detailed history of early Toronto and Torontonians.

The cover of this copy is slightly faded and there some adhesive residue on the corner of the front cover. Otherwise this rare book is in perfect condition.
